Sh*t ground, no fans. Yeah 'cos they are all "supporting" united

For all you big shots who “support” the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and man united, I’ve got some advice for you. Go and support your local team instead!

Of course I say that because it always annoys me when probably half the people you speak to off the cuff about football are united “fans”.

“Oh you go and watch them much then,” I like asking even though I know what the answer will be. And before you say it yes I know it isn’t easy getting tickets for united games but you could at least know something about the team you supposedly support.

So I’d just like to give reasons why supporting a small team is so much better. Firstly you don’t have to worry about getting a ticket as it’s never full, or anywhere near in Macc’s case. It’s usually far cheaper and Ok you won’t see the best players in the world but that doesn’t make the games less interesting.

You can actually talk to the players without them looking down at you as if you were some sh*t on the bottom of their expensive shoes. It’s also a lot easier to go to games as you know that three quarters of them will be at 3 o’clock on a Saturday or a Tuesday night. Who wants to play on Sunday morning or Saturday tea-time?

Most importantly of all you feel much more a part of the club than you would going to watch one Premiership match a year surely?

Think about it, are you really a fan watching your team occasionally on TV or down the pub? Oh and yes it might be “the lower leagues” but you couldn’t say that if they disappeared, then there might be nobody for you to look down your noses at anymore.

hey up fella,

Love the old self righteous we're a small club routine. As you well know I do support a Premier League club, but every now and then I do find it somewhat refreshing to get away from the overpaid underperforming arrogant undeserving of my hard earned cash mercenaries of the Premiership to visit Accrington Stanley who also happen to be on my doorstep.

They're about the same size as Macc aren't they?

It's only right that Macc Town should be on the football blog map. Have spent a fair few pleasant afternoons at Moss Rose - was often preferable to the Brit or Vale Park when I lived in the Potteries. Almost caught the recent game v Bury, but instead chose to retouch base with Leek Town (v AFC Telford). Linky linky will be forthcoming. Bon blogging.

Right well firstly don't you come on here being big man just cos you are in the Premiership Cam, you never know it might not last much longer anyway!

Was a great night out at the City Ground, shame there weren't a few more there but I know Macclesfield at home isn't exactly going to pull the crowds in! Do you think he's really going to be on his way out soon then, or was it just the shock of losing to little Macc? Don't feel too bad about it, we've got a 100% record against European Cup Winners: Played 1, Won 1!

Well I wasn't sure if there were any other Macc ones so thought I'd start one up El Tel. Haven't been to Vale Park myself, nor the Brit either actually, it always looks freezing cold though whenever you drive past!

Cheers for the links, will get the links goin from mine now.

I hope they don't get rid of Megson, I'm not overly happy about his style of football but there's been too much changing of managers at our place recently. we need stability (and a football team that gives a damn). Good luck for the season I'll stick a link up to you over on my blog
